Yuri Sokolov, PhD, MBA is a researcher, educator, and entrepreneur with 25 years experience in various sectors of the hearing health care industry. He conducted research in Auditory Physiology and Audiology from 1977-1991 at the O.S.Kolomiychenko Research Institute of Otolaryngology in Kyiv, Ukraine, particularly on hearing aid selection and fitting rationales, immittance audiometry, ABR, and otoacoustic emissions. He co-founded in 1991, managed until 1996, and is Chairman of the Board of the Hearing Rehabilitation which has become a major full-service hearing health care provider, Audiology training centre, and an acclaimed market leader in supplying high-quality hearing aids, accessories, FM-systems, and diagnostic Audiology equipment in Ukraine.
Invited by Dr. Hans Kunov and Prof. Poul Madsen to the Institute of Biomaterials and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Toronto, Dr. Sokolov became the first G.R.Hefernan/Co-Steel Innovation Scholar and co-developed Vivography™. To commercialize this technology, he co-founded Vivosonic in 1999 and is its President and Chief Executive Officer, and a Director.
Dr. Sokolov provides the vision and strategy to his companies. He holds a Master of Science (1977) degree from the National Technical University of Ukraine, PhD (1986) in Physiology from the O.O.Bohomolets Institute of Physiology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, and Master of Business Administration (2002) from the Rotman School of Management , University of Toronto.
Dr. Sokolov’s focus is on the strategy, structure, finance, strategic partnerships, marketing activities, and development of international and large distributors in the US.
