Thas Yuwaraj, PhD, PEng
VP of Biomedical Product Development
Dr. Yuwaraj has over 13 years of experience in the medical device industry and managed the development of products intended for 510k and PMA approval by the FDA (US). Prior to joining Vivosonic, Dr. Yuwaraj was the Director of Engineering at Fralex Therapeutics Inc, where he established the engineering department and lead the team in the development of a Class-III (FDA) neuromodulation device for the treatment of chronic pain. At Fralex, he also played a vital role in establishing an ISO13485 compliant product realization process that paved the way for obtaining CE marking for the therapeutic device.
Before joining Fralex, Dr. Yuwaraj was a Principal Developer at the Molecular Diagnostics Group of Bayer Healthcare LLC (formerly Visible Genetics Inc.). At Bayer, he managed the software component of a collaborative effort to develop a high-speed DNA sequencing system with GE HealthCare. The software system implemented some of the concepts that he developed as part of his doctoral work. Other roles at Fralex and Bayer included evaluation of intellectual properties and technologies for the purpose of mergers and acquisitions, and being the technical lead for interaction with the FDA.
Dr. Yuwaraj holds a Doctoral degree in Biomedical Engineering and a Bachelor of Applied Science and Engineering in Electrical & Computer Engineering, both from the University of Toronto.
